Reschio Houses

Reschio Houses

Scattered around the wild expanse of Reschio are 8 magnificent houses, available for rental. All are former farmhouses, once in ruins but now carefully and meticulously restored by the Bolza family. Keeping to the original footprint of the farmhouses, each house is truly unique and thoroughly liveable. What they all have in common, though, is the location, sitting amongst the charming hills with undisturbed views of the pristine estate.

Arrighi

High on the hills of Reschio is the impressive Arrighi, a former watchtower and farmhouse that dates back to the 11th century. Stroll across the wide, paved courtyard, past the stone fountain and into this warm and welcoming house, with its light, modern interiors, cool sandstone floors and soaring ceilings. Outside, the glass-encased staircase tower is an architectural show-stopper, but what’s most striking about Arrighi is its surroundings – it’s hard to drag yourself away from those sweeping views over the estate, the Niccone valley and over to Tuscany.

Barco

There’s a pleasingly synergic symmetry to Barco that stems from its landscaped courtyard, the focal point of the house. Inside, curving arches and an open-plan feel give a breezy sense of space, while the central dining room brings the outdoors in, opening right out onto the terraces leading to the swimming pool, garden and spa-bath. It’s here, on the shady terrace, that you’ll want to spend your day, nose in a book or dining outdoors, gazing at uninterrupted views of the castle and of nearby Castello di Sorbello. The location is spot-on, too, close to Ristorante Alle Scuderie, the stables and tennis courts. BARCOLINO is the spacious self-contained one-bedroom guest cottage in the grounds, available when the main house is not occupied.

Bell’Aria

Bell’Aria is a perfect example of how the Reschio team works closely with house owners to create an utterly unique and bespoke home that is both aesthetically beautiful and liveable. This is Italian elegance with a touch of English country house charm – where modern style meets traditional materials, where refined luxury meets kick-off-your-shoes comfort. Take your pick from numerous outdoor lounging areas – on the terraces, by the pool, on the lawns – and take in the views over Reschio’s private nature reserve and, on crisp clear days, all the way to the Apennines.

Cercoschene

Completely restored and furnished in April 2021 Cercoschene has profited from the whole of Reschio’s design ethos. Architecture, interior design, bespoke furniture from B.B. for Reschio, it has all come magically together. Stepping over the threshold into a new double height entrance with an unsupported solid stone staircase, it is a real show stopper. Terraces, some covered in wisteria or protected by mature fig trees, are all around the house, each with stupendous views over olive groves and vineyards to ancient oak and chestnut forests beyond. An outside dining area, with a bread oven is a few steps from the panoramic swimming pool and lounge where an open fireplace will tempt you into evenings of chatter and stargazing. One of the four bedrooms is an independent studio, with kitchenette. The writer’s desk is for those that want to bring their work with them, but with these views you might be inspired to write poetry.

Piantaverna

This delightful farmhouse, nestled on a slope bang in the centre of the estate, is a recently restyled gem. Light-flooded interiors and bespoke furniture, carefully selected by the Reschio design team, mix cleverly with period pieces, creating a stylish, organic feel. Unlike other properties, Piantaverna’s infinity pool sits on a terrace above the house, surrounded by fragrant lavender gardens and with dreamy views of Reschio’s rolling hills. You’ll happily lose a day here, relaxing in the balmy shade of old oak trees.

Spinaltermine

Tranquil, secluded and peaceful: Spinaltermine is in a remote corner of the estate, surrounded by undisturbed wilderness and with jaw-dropping views across Reschio and the surrounding hills. This is one for those seeking a slice of nature in its purest form. Wild oaks, olive trees and scented rosemary beds surround the summer house and infinity pool outside, while inside, the cool monochrome furnishings coupled with rustic, Italian touches create a modern, chic retreat.

Tisciano

This house still retains the sense of the farmhouse that it was centuries before, despite the drop-dead-gorgeous interiors within. The aromatic gardens lead directly into Reschio’s ancient olive grove with forests extending beyond. It is a haven for wild life. The light and bright spacious interiors lean heavily on 1950’s Italian design, while outside you are spoilt for choice with the extensive outdoor lounging areas – loggias, pool terraces, alfresco dining and all with outstanding views across Reschio’s private nature reserve.
