Luxury Mountain Lodge in the Dolomites
Stefano and Giorgia Barbini are highly respected in the chic, fast-paced world of Italian fashion. One day, the couple falls in love with an aristocratic hunting lodge in South Tyrol.
They acquire the dilapidated property and transform it into a stylish and exclusive holiday retreat that is simply unrivaled in the Alps.
White Deer is situated at an elevation of 1,200 meters, over- looks the Badia, Pusteria and Aurina valleys. The estate and its 17-hectare grounds afford breathtaking views of the Dolomite mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and South Tyrol’s spectacular landscapes.
White Deer is a unique luxury estate with a great deal of charm that accommodates up to a maximum of ten guests and may be rented only in its entirety.
It is an ideal holiday retreat for those who seek complete privacy and personalized service.
Three ample living areas on the ground floor provide plenty of space and freedom. The exquisite Tea Room is graced with an elegant seating area, plush pillows, and soft fabrics, making it ideal for stimulating conversation. Up to twenty guests can dine in style or celebrate a special occasion in the traditional Stube parlor. The lodge also offers a fully equipped study with Wi-Fi and a small home theater.
On the upper floor, there is a beautifully arranged lounge. Opulent relaxation areas taste fully positioned around a crackling fire make an inviting prelude to the four individually designed bedrooms. There are three double suites and one room with two bunk beds, making it popular with children.
The names of the rooms speak for themselves: Il Nido (The Nest), Il Sogno (The Dream), L‘Aurora (The Dawn) and Il Rifugio (The Refuge).
The compact yet exquisite spa upstairs offers a Finnish sauna – designed and handcrafted by Stefano from 200-year-old wood sourced from a neighboring farm – a Turkish bath, a spacious whirlpool, and an experience shower clad in warm natural stone. Experience at White Deer:
It is the natural, warm hospitality of the Barbinis that makes White Deer San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge so unique. They are always attuned to responding to the individual needs of guests.
A gifted chef, Giorgia has always had a great love of good food: she works her magic in the kitchen using seasonal and local ingredients and traditional recipes from southern Italy, the Mediterranean and South Tyrol. In addition to creating unforgettable meals, she’s also happy to let interested guests in on some of her cooking secrets. Stefano is the sommelier and affineur of the house, regaling guests with fine wine and exquisite cheese. They transformed the lodge’s former goat stables into a wine cellar. Boasting 1,500 bottles of local wines from 142 different wineries, Stefano’s is the best-stocked cellar comprising South Tyrolean wines in the world. The original wooden ceiling, stone walls, and natural stone floor all serve to transform this space into a distinctive wine-tasting room. Stefano loves to receive his guests here in order to pair wines to the evening meal together.
In September 2012, the Barbinis created a revolutionary private golf course where guests can enjoy what just may be the most extraordinary and thrilling golf experience of their lives: A Hole in Heaven. It boasts cutting-edge technology, including synthetic turf of the latest generation, and a two-tiered green modeled after the infamous Valley of Sin, a legendary creation that forms part of the 18th hole green at St Andrews Old Course in Scotland. There are nine flag positions, and six tees positioned at various heights and distances along the adjacent slopes; with three flags of different colors, guests can golf 18 extremely enjoyable and challenging par-3 holes at 1,200 meters in altitude.
