Villa San Sanino

Nest Italy - Villa San Sanino

Our experience at Villa San Sanino felt like coming back home after a long time, since when arriving at the Villa we saw Giacomo and his father, Ubaldo, waiting for us.

Everything here tastes like family, and it’s a feeling you get immediately, from the very first things they explained to us. How Ubaldo and Laura came across this place by chance, falling in love with it and deciding to turn it into a small luxury farmhouse, the love for this land and its products that Laura shapes in the kitchen of the Limonaia. A real family management, now supported by the youngest generation with Giacomo and Bianca.

Before showing us our suite, Giacomo explained how trying to keep the history of the cottage intact didn’t mean to give up comfort. We could see that very clearly: as we entered our room we found an iPad, a bluetooth system which allowed us to spread our Nest Playlist in the room and can be a nice idea if you are preparing for a bath in the whirlpool tub with chromotherapy.

Each room has a unique identity, but everywhere the wonderful terracotta floors typical of these areas have been maintained, and colums and beams in bricks, as well as the exposed wooden beams on the roof makes all the rooms very cozy. Looking out the window, you have a splendid view of the hills, with their vineyards and wheat fields stretching out in the Tuscan summer.

In the evening we were guests of La Limonaia, the small kitchen where Laura and “Mami” (mother) helps her with the preparations and cook celebrating the tuscan cuisine. Before dinner we enjoyed an aperitif with a splendid view over the Tuscan hills.

Villa San Sanino is, in fact, perfectly suited for tailor-made events. Not just a romantic dinner with this beautiful view, but also curated private events, such as a candlelit Tavolata, that can be easily arranged in this wonderful location. In the kitchen, Laura uses vegetables from the organic garden, meat raised in this area and fresh wild fish, in addition of course to the extra virgin olive oil obtained from the estate’s olive trees.

For our evening she opted for a menu with typical Tuscan dishes, a real immersion in the culinary culture of this area. Ribollita Toscana San Sanino as an appetizer, hand-made pici with “ragu di Chianina”, chicken bundles with Nobile di Montepulciano, one of the most typical wines of the area, and then ice cream with strawberry coulis.

This kitchen is exclusive to the guests of the Suites, and the attention and care that the family dedicates to those who decide to stop is perceived not only by the quality of the dishes, but also by the relaxing and chilled atmosphere that truly allows you to “switch off. “.

After a restful night we found the breakfast we expected: homemade cakes and jams, freshly baked bread and the smile of the family welcoming the guests. The delicious food and the sunny were a super start of the day.

A thing we found very special about Villa San Sanino is the free concierge service, which gives access to a number of experiences directly organized by the staff, the best way to get in touch with authentic realities of the area. Thus, it is possible to cook with Laura, go on a truffle hunt or a horseback ride, enjoy a tasting in the best wineries of the area (and I was lucky enough to experience that!) or even a balloon ride.

On that morning we had the chance to go to Montepulciano with Giacomo, where we met another “element” of this family: Giacomo’s girlfriend, owner of Cantina Ercolani. Here you can visit the cellars, organize a lunch with tasting or a wine tasting paired with cheeses and salume toscano. This kind of experience can be organized for groups of people, but also only for a couple who would liketo visit an excellent winery in the area.

For those who simply want to relax, you can just walk down the path among the olive trees to find the infinity pool, or choose one of the wellness treatments offered directly by Villa San Sanino in the wellness area.
